The Tamil remake of 3 idiots by Director Shankar has finally got its title and is called Nanban.

Putting all assumptions, premonitions and the ifs and buts over the Tamil remake of '3 Idiots' the producers of the film Gemini Film Circuit has released a statement confirming their mega venture is titled 'Nanban', it will be directed by Shankar and star Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth in Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi roles respectively.


The jumbo endeavor will have popular Tollywood heroine Ileana playing Kareena Kappor in Tamil. Other pivotal roles are played by Sathyaraj and Sathyan. Director SJ Suryah, Actress Anuya and Ajay Rathinam will make special appearances.

Scenes involving Jeeva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj, Sathyan and SJ Suryah are being shot in Ooty for the next ten days. Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay will join the team from February 25 for his portions.

3 idiots in Tamil is finally named Nanban.

Nanban stars Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth in the lead roles, played by Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan in the original 3 idiots. Kedi actress Illeana, will reprise Kareena Kapoor's role and will romance Vijay in the movie for the first time.

Sathyaraj and Sathyan too play pivotal roles. It is likely that Sathyaraj will take up Boman Irani's role as the strict and nerd professor and Sathyan will do Omi Vaidiya's role as Chatur a.k.a Silencer.

Director SJ Surya will also be part of the film Nanban. Earlier it was reported that he will play Omi Vaidiya's role, but now its is clear that he would be donning the role of Javed Jeffry, who is actually Aamir Khan according to the movie.

Actress Anuya and Ajay Rathinam are also to make a special appearance. Anuya is likely to play Ileana's elder sister (played by Mona Singh in original).

Sources close to the film's unit say that scenes involving Jeeva, Srikanth, Sathyaraj, Sathyan and S J Suryah are being shot in Ooty now. Vijay's portions are to be shot from February 25, when he joins the team.

While the camera will be handled by Manoj Paramahamsa, the music is taken care by Harris Jayaraj. Watch this space for more details.
