Commonwealth Games 2010 will shine : IOC president slams media.

Despite of listening to the news of allegations of corruption and poor preparation of Common wealth Games 2010 venues, International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge on Tuesday confidently predicted the success of the game and was firm in his view that India will shine with this game.

After listening to the positive comments of the IOC president it makes our heart feel better but we can’t disguise ourselves to what we see. The situation is getting grave with the passage of time which could be easily made from the reaction of Prime Minister after his reviews of the venues just a few days back.

Things were so pathetic that the PM had to frame a supervising Committee that would monitor progress and ensure contractors with the fresh deadlines.

Slippages, deficiencies in Commonwealth Games related projects.

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) have found deficiencies and slippages in various Commonwealth Games-related projects.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Prithviraj Chavan said, “The Chief Technical Examiner's Unit of the Central Vigilance Commission, as its routine work, had undertaken intensive examination of works related to Commonwealth Games. The Commission in its inquiry found that works were awarded at higher rates and the quality of the works was also not up to the mark.”

Ineligible agencies were also awarded the works. The Commission has advised the organisations concerned to take corrective steps in the works inspected, he said.

Commonwealth Games 2010 Theme Song : Not upto Expectations ?

A R Rahman unveiled his Commonwealth Games theme song composition yesterday which has got mixed reviews so far, however you must know what they say about A R Rahman music, that is more you hear his tune, the more you get to like it.

CWG Organising Committee's Executive Board member V K Malhotra is the first big name who was not impressed by the song and has appealed for rework on the song. "This song has fallen short of expectations. We had a expected a better anthem for the Games from a composer of Rahman's status," Malhotra said.

However, there are large number of people who are satisfied with the song and already looking for the lyrics to remember and sing it to impress others.

One of our readers wrote to us, 'Whenever something big happens, it is bound to receive different reviews as all of us different and have different needs'. Another reader named Aman wrote that 'It is not possible for great Rahman to please everybody all the time with his work, although I'm pretty happy with tune and already making an attempt to remember the song'.

4 wrestlers, shotputter in CWG squad fail dope test

In a major embarrassment for the country ahead of the Commonwealth Games, eight Indian sportspersons, including five who were selected for the event, have tested positive for a banned substance.

Heading the list of the tainted is Olympian wrestler Rajiv Tomar, who was being seen as a bright prospect for a Commonwealth gold medal and had received the Arjuna Award barely five days ago.

Among the dope offenders, six are wrestlers and two athletes. Of them, four wrestlers and Sourabh Vij of Delhi had been named in the national squads for the Games.

The drug they tested positive for was methylhexaneamine, a stimulant in the non-specified category, banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2010. Intended to be a nasal decongestant, it is being marketed as a dietary supplement and a party pill.
