Grammy Awards 2011 has come and gone and while Lady Gaga being a winner was no surprise, Esperanza Spalding and Arcade Fire were. Spalding beat out Justin Bieber for the best new artist Grammy and Arcade Fire took home the highly coveted Album of the Year award. Two major disappointments as Justin Bieber was certain he would win and I was almost 100% certain Eminem would walk away with album of the year; oh well.

Lady Gaga, amidst her wacky performance where she hatched out of an egg, took home two Grammy Awards last night. Perhaps the biggest story regarding the 2011 Grammy Winners is the Justin Bieber – Esperanza Spalding upset. Immediately Bieber Fever fans took to Spalding’s Wikipedia and let her have it with some nasty comments. The Biebs even said he was surprised and disappointed but that he would be back next year; let’s hope not.

Another one of the winner’s who was a shocker was Arcade Fire taking home Album of the Year. I was sure that Eminem’s Recovery would be a shoe in for that Grammy but I was wrong. I have nothing against Arcade Fire as they are pretty damn amazing. I’d like to congratulate all of the winners at last night’s 2011 Grammy Awards.

2011 Grammy Awards WinnersThe 53rd annual Grammy Awards, held Los Angeles, offered a night of surprises and upsets, including Esperanza Spalding winning for best new artist over more popular singers like Justin Bieber and Drake. "I take this honor to heart so sincerely and I'll do my damnedest to make great music for all of you. It's such an honor and God bless," Spalding said, accepting her award.

Win Butler, center, joined by fellow band members of Arcade Fire, accepted the night's top award -- album of the year -- for "The Suburbs." Backstage, band members told reporters they were just as surprised by the win as presenter Barbra Streisand saying their name. "The idea never entered my mind, even in the slightest bit at any point of my life until they said the name of the album," one band member said.

2011 Grammy Awards Winners
Country music artists ruled music's biggest night as Lady Antebellum scored Grammy awards for best record, song and country song of the year. The trio's song, "Need You Now," became a crossover hit, earning the group won a total of five Grammys. Usher poses backstage with his awards for best male R&B vocal and best contemporary R&B album. He appeared on stage with his protege Justin Bieber, who performed "Never Say Never." Together, they showed off their smooth dance skills.

2011 Grammy Awards Winners
Rihanna took to the Grammy stage twice Sunday night. Appearing in a flowing black and gold dress, she opened the set with Eminem, singing "Love the Way You Lie." Later, she returned in a much skimpier outfit, reminiscent of Wonder Woman, when she performed "What's My Name?" with Drake, left.

2011 Grammy Awards WinnersTrain, from left, Scott Underwood, Patrick Monahan and Jimmy Stafford, took home the award for best pop performance by a duo or group. "Thanks, Justin Bieber, for not being a duo or group," joked lead singer Monahan.

2011 Grammy Awards Winners
Rapper Eminem had a leading 10 nominations but won only two -- best rap album and rap solo performance. Here, he accepts the award for best rap album, as Nicki Minaj and will.i.am look on. Earlier, he performed with Rihanna, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Dr. Dre, who gave his first performance on live television in a decade.

2011 Grammy Awards Winners
John Legend won awards for best R&B album, best R&B song, and best traditional R&B vocal performance for his song "Shine" off the album "Wake up!" with The Roots.

2011 Grammy Awards Winners
Lady Gaga made the most auspicious arrival at the Grammy -- concealed in a giant egg, which hatched on stage for her performance of "Born This Way." The singer who has been compared to Madonna took home awards for best female pop vocal performance, best short form music for "Bad Romance" and best pop vocal album for "The Fame Monster."

2011 Grammy Awards Winners
British rock group Muse accepts the award for best rock album for "The Resistance."

2011 Grammy Awards WinnersBruno Mars, center, arrived at the Grammys with, left, Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine. Later, he took the stage with B.o.B. and Janelle Morae to perform some of their most popular songs. Mars sang "Grenade" in a throwback to James Brown.

Nice write up. Always interested in who wins but this stuff is just subjective anyway.
