Serena and Venus Williams claims Australian Open Doubles title.

January 29 2010 : Defending champions Serena and Venus Williams defeated Cara Black and Liezel Huber 6-4 6-3 to win the Australian Open women’s doubles title on Friday, maintaining the partnership’s perfect record in grand slam finals.

Serena Williams had the perfect preparation for her Australian Open singles final against Justine Henin by claiming the women's doubles title with her sister Venus on Friday. No.1-ranked women's pair Cara Black and Liezel Huber were no match for tennis's amazing sister act, as the powerful Williams duo ran out 6-4 6-3 victors.

The Huber/Black combination took out this title in 2007, meaning defending champions Serena and Venus certainly had no easy task, particularly with Serena not wanting to expend too much energy ahead of her crucial match on Saturday.

But the American sisters had the edge in almost every department, being described as "too good" by Huber after the match, ensuring Serena had a nice 90 minute hit out rather than a grueling three-setter.

Where the African-born doubles specialist duo of Huber and Black found inroads with excellent teamwork and superior strategy in this form of the game, there were plenty of free points headed back to the powerhouse service games of the sisters that have served them so well in the singles game.

Venus started her acceptance speech by thanking Serena for being "the best partner ever", but Serena absentmindedly left Venus out of her thank yous until a last-moment inclusion, drawing laughs from the crowd. Senior sister Venus might have a few words to say about that off the court, but Serena could be forgiven for having switched focus to her true final, which will come 24 hours after this triumph.
