Priyanka Chopra thanks God after winning the National award.
January 23 2010 : Chopra won her first National Award for her performance in Madhur Bhandarkar's critically acclaimed film Fashion.
An ecstatic Priyanka Chopra, who won the Best Actress award at the 56th National Film Awards today for Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion thanked the almighty God for the coveted honour.
In a post on micro-blogging website Twitter after the win, Priyanka who portrayed the role of a aspiring model in the film, wrote, "Won the National Award for fashion! Aaaaaaahhh! Too excited!! God is kind and so are all of u!."
The 27-year-old actress also thanked her cast and congratulated her co-star Kangna Ranaut who bagged the National award for the Best Supporting actress for the same film.
"Thank u Madhur Ronnie Kangana Mughda Arjan Arbaaz and the cast n crew!! A huge shout to my team and all of u!! God is kind!!! Yaaaaayyy!!,(sic)" Priyanka wrote on Twitter.
"Congrats Kangana!! I void not have been Meghna Mathur without u!! U deserve it!!!(sic)," the former Beauty queen wrote in another post. Based on the dark side of the world of fashion, the movie tell the stories of rise and falls in the glamour world through the eyes of the protagonist played by Priyanka Chopra.
In a recent post, Priyanka tweeted to her co-star, "Kangna Ranaut congrats babe !!! We did it!!!".

The actress also wrote on her Twitter account: "Thank you Madhur, Ronnie, Kangana, Mughda, Arjan, Arbaaz and the cast and crew!! A huge shout to my team and all of u!! God is kind!!! Yaaaaayyy!!"
Director Madhur Bhandarkar, who has already bagged two National awards earlier for his films Page 3 and Traffic Signal, said he was delighted that his work was being appreciated.
Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, who is also one Twitter wrote: realpreityzinta: "Congratulations babe. Well deserved! Am so happy for you ! We want a party when you get back."
Meanwhile, Best Actor Award (Male) went to Upendra Limaye for Marathi film Jogwa.
Actress Kangna Ranaut also bagged Best Supporting actress for her role in Fashion. Congratulating Kangna, Priyanka wrote on her Twitter: "Congrats Kangana!! I would not have been Meghna Mathur (Priyanka's character) without you!! You deserve it!!!"
Dibakar Banerjee's Oye Lucky Luck Oye won the Best Popular Film and Best Film was Rahul Bose-starrer Bengali film Antaheen.
Arjun Rampal, whose career got a revival of sorts with Om Shanti Om, got Best Supporting Actor for Rock On.
